Save countless hours with these fully editable sample long-term recorded preparation documents for a multi-grade First and Second class. The content is pre-populated and ready to go, so instead of starting from scratch, you can simply edit it to suit your class, teaching style, and school context.
Each subject includes suggested monthly content, ideal for teachers new to the class level or those looking for fresh ideas. However, everything is easily customisable so you can adapt the documents as needed.
Hyperlinks are included throughout, directing you to useful online resources such as poems, books, and teaching materials.
The English and Gaeilge recorded preparation comes with two versions of suggested content. You can choose the version that best suits your class, or use them across a two-year cycle if teaching a multi-class group for 2 consecutive years.
These documents are based solely on the Irish Primary School Curriculum and are not tied to any particular publisher’s scheme. (The SPHE plan includes the Stay Safe, Walk Tall, and Department of Education’s RSE programmes in the suggested content section.) If you’re following a textbook or scheme, most publishers provide a monthly breakdown of their content online—this can be easily substituted into the documents .
The format and terminology used align with the 2021 Department of Education’s Guidance on Preparation for Teaching and Learning. Each long-term includes the following sections as outlined in this guidance:
-
Expected Learning (linked to the Primary Curriculum)
-
Learning Experiences
-
How the Learning will be Demonstrated (Assessment)
-
Integration
You will receive the documents in fully editable formats (Microsoft Word and Google Docs) for easy personalisation.
Guidance notes are included to support you in adapting the content, understanding recent updates to planning requirements, and making the most of the documents.
These recorded preparation documents are based on the Irish Primary Curriculum as follows:

This reflects the phased rollout of the redeveloped primary curriculum, where schools will begin implementation of one new curriculum area during the 2026/2027 school year. Plans aligned to the new subject specifications are available separately, allowing schools to purchase the curricular area they choose to begin with as implementation progresses.

Some Frequently Asked Questions (for a full and comprehensive FAQ, click here):
Do these plans include the new curriculum specifications (Wellbeing, SEE, STEM, Arts Education, MFL)?
For September 2026, the long-term bundles include:
- English and Irish plans based on the Primary Language Curriculum (2019).
- Maths plans based on the Primary Mathematics Curriculum (2023).
- Plans for all other subjects based on the 1999 Primary School Curriculum.
Schools will select the first curriculum area they wish to enact in September 2026. It is not expected that planning in this area must immediately reflect the new specification. Initially, planning in this area may continue to be based on the 1999 curriculum, with schools choosing to review and update their planning during the year following engagement with support from Oide.
Alternatively, schools may decide to retain their existing plans for the year and gradually begin incorporating aspects of the new specification over time, rather than fully rewriting plans mid-year.
Planning in curriculum areas not selected for initial enactment will continue to be based on the 1999 curriculum until implementation begins in those areas (only one curriculum area will be implemented in 2026/2027).
Plans aligned to the new subject specifications are also available separately on TeachingPlans.ie here, allowing schools to purchase plans for the individual curriculum area they choose to implement as rollout progresses.
For a full explanation of how the rollout affects planning, read the blog post here.

No, all products are available as digital downloads only as they are designed to be edited by you to suit your individual class and students.
Can you create bespoke plans to suit our school/ my booklist/ the schemes I am using?
Furthermore, our intention is to provide editable sample planning documents that you can easily and quickly customise for your individual class and whatever scheme you are using for different subjects. Much of the plans will remain the same regardless of whatever scheme you are using, and editing it to suit takes a fraction of the time that it would take to type everything from scratch. Editing the plans to suit is an important step for teachers to take in order to ensure they are familiar with the plans’ content as well as their suitability for their individual students.
We do provide a suggested pace of delivery of content in the plans for teachers who are new to a class level or who don’t rely on publisher’s schemes, and this section can be edited to suit as needed. Also many publishers now have an outline of their scheme’s content as part of their digital resources, so if you wish, you can delete the suggested content provided and include the publisher’s outline with your planning documents instead.
