Timetables
On this page you will find sample timetables for different primary school settings.
Whether you are a mainstream class teacher, a SET teacher, or an autism class teacher, creating a timetable can feel like a mind boggling process! It can seem impossible to fit everything in and to meet the Department’s time requirements for each subject.
Timetables often need to be changed throughout the school year as things crop up or when something doesn’t work. But if you are new to a setting, it can be helpful to see a sample timetable to get an idea of how things might look across the school day.
Important Note: The Primary Curriculum Framework (PCF), released in 2023, outlines revised time allocations for the redeveloped Primary Curriculum. Circular 0067/2025, states that “Since the launch of the framework in 2023, schools have had the flexibility to enact the suggested time allocations if they wished.”
Circular 0052/2026, clarifies that “The new suggested time allocations outlined in the Primary Curriculum Framework (2023) should be implemented by all schools by the end of the first curriculum enactment cycle i.e. by the end of the 2027/2028 school year.”
Therefore following the new time allocations is not required yet, however schools may choose to start exploring and experimenting with them now.
