Preparation for Teaching & Learning

Guidance regarding teachers’ preparation for teaching and learning was published by the Department in 2021. See our blog post for a summary of the guidance documents. Written planning is now being referred to as “recorded preparation” and there is more flexibility with regard to what sections can be included or omitted. Below you will find templates and samples of written preparation which include the sections suggested in the new guidance.

Our tried and tested templates for recorded preparation mean you won’t have to spend hours playing around with tables and formatting in Microsoft Word coming up with your own. They are in editable format so you have the freedom to tweak the layout to better suit your needs if you wish, however a basic format that is clear and easy to use is there for you.

Note: There is no change to SET long term preparation and the Student Support File document is still in use.
