Primary Language Curriculum 5th / 6th Class Long Term Plans for English and Irish
€13,00
Extremely high quality, comprehensive sample long term English and Gaeilge PLC plans for Fifth Class, Sixth Class, and multi-class Fifth & Sixth Class. These are fully editable Microsoft Word and Google Docs format documents that can be easily changed to suit your individual class or if you are following a particular scheme.
The plans use the terminology from the 2021 Preparation for Teaching and Learning Guidance for all Primary and Special schools, and include all of the sections recommended in it. These plans are suitable for experienced and newly qualified teachers alike.
These sample long term plans will save you countless hours as the content is already pre-populated, so instead of typing everything from scratch, you can simple edit it to suit.
Suggested content to cover each month is provided for teachers who are new to a class level or for those who would like some new ideas, but you can easily change this to suit your own circumstances if you desire. In the English plans there is a detailed content section for each class level which gives suggested poems, stories, OL topics, grammar, writing genres etc. that can be covered each month. The Irish plans have suggested poems, songs, stories, vocab, phonics etc. for each month in the content section. This content is not based on a particular scheme, but content that I have found work well with Fifth/ Sixth Class. The suggested content is different for Fifth and Sixth Class, and those teaching a multi-class Fifth and Sixth can use it as a year 1/ year 2 option.
The sample plans use the terminology from the 2021 Guidance on Preparation for Teaching and Learning for all Primary and Special schools, and include the sections specified in the guidance. A document is included in your download which gives some detail about the new guidance and using these plans.

Some Frequently Asked Questions (for a full and comprehensive FAQ, click here):
Will these plans work with a publisher programme e.g., Starlight, Jolly Phonics, Exercise Your English, Abair Liom, Bua na Cainte, Bun go Barr etc.?
These Plans are in fully editable format so that you can tailor them to your needs and the needs of your class. The sample plans are based solely on the Irish Primary School Curriculum and not on publishers’ schemes, but if you are following a particular scheme/ textbook and wish to include that content, it can quickly be edited to suit. Most sections are common to all plans regardless of what scheme you are using, and editing the suggested content section to suit your needs will take a fraction of the time that it would to do the entire plan from scratch. Most publishers also have a document with a monthly breakdown of their content as part of their online resources that you can simply include instead of the table of suggested content that is provided.

No, all products are available as digital downloads only as they are designed to be edited by you to suit your individual class and students.
Can you create bespoke plans to suit our school/ my booklist/ the schemes I am using?
Furthermore, our intention is to provide editable sample planning documents that you can easily and quickly customise for your individual class and whatever scheme you are using for different subjects. Much of the plans will remain the same regardless of whatever scheme you are using, and editing it to suit takes a fraction of the time that it would take to type everything from scratch. Editing the plans to suit is an important step for teachers to take in order to ensure they are familiar with the plans’ content as well as their suitability for their individual students.
We do provide a suggested pace of delivery of content in the plans for teachers who are new to a class level or who don’t rely on publisher’s schemes, and this section can be edited to suit as needed. Also many publishers now have an outline of their scheme’s content as part of their digital resources, so if you wish, you can delete the suggested content provided and include the publisher’s outline with your planning documents instead.
What if I want to plan by term instead of for the entire year?
The plans are for a whole year, however the content is separated into Term 1, Term 2 and Term 3, so if you are doing your long-term plans by term you can just keep the section you need and delete the sections you don’t each term.

These plans are extremely comprehensive and detailed with a variety of options included within the purchase. These plans have saved me hours of time and the suggested work activities for each fortnight within the long terms are practical, clear and appropriate for the class level. Your year is mapped out very clearly and because they are editable documents it allows you to easily alter the topics/activities if needed. I couldn’t recommend these plans enough! Well worth the investment!
