Designed for real classrooms
This long-term recorded preparation reflects the realities of teaching Fifth Class. Learning experiences are practical, playful, inclusive and designed to support child agency, engagement and curiosity about the world around them.
Important note
Learning Outcomes in the SEE specification are designed to be developed across a two-year cycle at Fifth & Sixth Class level. This document includes all Learning Outcomes to support long-term planning, but it is not expected that every Learning Outcome will be covered in full within a single year. Teachers can select what is most appropriate for their class, remove what is not needed and refine the plan to align with their school’s agreed approaches and the needs of their pupils.
Some Frequently Asked Questions (for a full and comprehensive FAQ, click here):
Why are History and Geography included in the same plan when they are separate subjects at Stages 3 and 4 in the Primary Curriculum Framework?
History and Geography are included in the same plan to maximise opportunities for meaningful cross-curricular integration. Within the SEE specification, some learning outcomes in 5th & 6th class are common to both subjects. Planning them together allows these shared outcomes to be addressed in a cohesive and connected way, while still respecting History and Geography as distinct subjects.
