Short Term Recorded Preparation Pack for Class Teachers

This Short Term Recorded Preparation Pack has been designed to support Irish primary school teachers in preparing clear, practical and flexible short term recorded preparation in line with the 2026 Preparation for Learning, Teaching and Assessment Updated Guidance for All Primary and Special Schools and the phased introduction of the Redeveloped Primary Curriculum.

• The pack includes three editable short term recorded preparation templates in Microsoft Word format, with Google Docs download links also provided. The templates have been created to reflect different curriculum contexts during the transition period from 2026-2032, including use of the 2019 Primary Language Curriculum, the 2023 Primary Mathematics Curriculum, the 1999 curriculum and the 2025 redeveloped Primary Curriculum specifications.
• Three completed sample plans are also included in non-editable PDF format. These examples demonstrate how the templates may be completed for different class levels and curriculum contexts. They include a fortnightly Junior Infants example using the Primary Language Curriculum, Primary Mathematics Curriculum and 1999 curriculum, a monthly Second Class example based on the redeveloped curriculum structure for Infants to Second Class, and a monthly Fifth Class example based on the redeveloped curriculum structure for Third to Sixth Class.
• This resource also includes explanation notes to help teachers understand the key sections of short term recorded preparation, the difference between the 1999 curriculum and redeveloped curriculum formats, the use of curriculum areas and subjects at different class levels, and how to adapt the templates during the phased implementation of the redeveloped Primary Curriculum.

The editable templates can be edited to suit teachers’ own needs, school context and agreed whole-school approach. The templates are provided in Word format, with Google Docs links included for ease of use.

Can I purchase plans with another teacher in my school who is teaching the same class level?/ Can we split the cost if we are both using them?

No, the cost of a product cannot be split amongst 2 teachers at the same class level. All downloads from teachingplans.ie constitute copyrighted material that and each purchase gives an individual licence for one teacher to use the resources. Where multiple teachers in a school are at the same class level and would like to use the same resource, an individual purchase is necessary for each teacher.

Do you have a Google Docs version of this product?

Yes, this download includes a PDF document with a link to the editable parts of product in Google Docs (i.e. the blank short term recorded preparation templates). When you click this link, you will be asked to create your own copy of the document.

Can you post me printed copies of my order?

No, all products are available as digital downloads only as they are designed to be edited by you to suit your individual class and students.
