Take the stress out of planning for the new Social & Environmental Education (SEE) curriculum specification with this fully editable Multi-Grade Infants long-term recorded preparation document, developed in line with the Department of Education’s Updated Guidance on Preparation for Learning, Teaching and Assessment (2026).
This comprehensive, pre-populated planning document helps teachers translate the SEE specification into practical classroom learning experiences while saving hours of preparation time analysing curriculum documents and building plans from scratch. The document can be quickly adapted to suit your own class context, school priorities and timetable.
This multi-grade SEE long-term plan is intentionally not organised into a Year 1 / Year 2 cycle for teachers teaching a mixed Junior & Senior Infant class across two years. Instead, it includes the full range of content from the SEE Curriculum Specification in one comprehensive document, including all strands, strand units and Infant Learning Outcomes, along with a wide bank of suggested learning experiences.
Rather than receiving two smaller documents with half of the content allocated to each year, you receive one complete planning framework containing two years’ worth of learning.
This approach gives teachers maximum flexibility when planning for a mixed Junior and Senior Infant class. It allows teachers to ensure their planning aligns with school priorities (for example, whole-school events or agreed themes) while also responding to the needs and interests of their own class.
Using professional judgement, teachers can simply select, retain and refine the Learning Outcomes and learning experiences they wish to prioritise in Year 1, and then revisit, extend or explore additional outcomes in Year 2.
In short, everything you need is included — you simply decide what to prioritise each year to best suit your class.

Designed for real classrooms
This long-term recorded preparation reflects the realities of teaching Junior & Senior Infants. Learning experiences are practical, playful, inclusive and designed to support child agency, engagement and curiosity about the world around them.
Important note
Learning Outcomes in the SEE specification are designed to be developed across the two-year Infant cycle. This document includes all Learning Outcomes to support long-term planning, but it is not expected that every Learning Outcome will be covered in full within a single year. Teachers can select what is most appropriate for their class, remove what is not needed and refine the plan to align with their school’s agreed approaches and the needs of their pupils.
