Social Story on Sports Day

This editable social story is designed to help children know what to expect on Sports Day and how to respond to different situations—like winning, losing, waiting their turn, or feeling overwhelmed.

It explains that it’s okay to feel disappointed or frustrated, and offers simple strategies to help children stay calm and show good sportsmanship.

Written in line with Carol Gray’s Social Story, the story includes descriptive language, avoids judgement, and promotes self-awareness and emotional regulation in a safe and supportive tone.

What’s Included:
– Editable version in Microsoft Word and a link to make a copy in Google Docs
– Suggested placeholders for dates, rewards, and personal calming strategies

This story can be used in the lead-up to Sports Day to help children feel confident, supported, and ready to enjoy the event.
